Item Description
Montebrasite is a relatively rare gem, and there are only a few localities in the world that produced fine cutting-grade material. A stone like this one would be considered "collector quality", and is deeply appreciated by those who have experience with rare gems. This particular stone has a very light greenish-yellow color, and a "Round Brilliant" cut. With the naked eye, I cannot see any inclusions in this gem, which is quite impressive for a stone this size. It's hard to find Montebrasite gems over 1 carat, let alone 4 carats! Montebrasite is too soft and brittle for jewelry, but these are not very common today in ANY size. This stone would make a great addition to any rare stone collection. It should be noted that the majority of what we see on the market labeled as Amblygonite has recently been identified as Montebrasite, and confirmed Amblygonite is now incredibly rare by comparison.
