Item Description

VERY RARE pseudomorph from the old well-known Emmons Quarry in the famous Oxford County pegmatite field. Porcelaneous Montebrasite, an anhydrous Li-Al-phosphate, has mostly replaced pearlescent muscovite plates on both sides of the sculptural small cabinet. The Emmons Quarry is famous for numerous common and rare phosphate species, especially fluorapatite. Ex Cook Collection and collected in 1994. We feel very lucky to have picked up the large collection of Bill and Anne Cook of Cleveland, recently. It is a tribute to their long efforts, how many interesting minerals and old localities were preserved and carefully labelled so you can see them now. Bill and Anne collected for at least 60 years. An important and rare montebrasite pseudomorph from the locale.
