Item Description
1990 Mineralogical Record Mont Saint-Hilaire Special Issue, Vol. 21, Nol. 4. Mont Saint-Hilaire is an unusual alkaline intrusive igneous complex consisting predominantly of nepheline syenite and sodalite syenite. The quarry has produced a fascinating variety of unusual, rare and beautiful mineral species. The five sections in the issue are: Introduction; History; Geology; Mineralogy; and Bibliography. Two additional articles are: A hornfels unit in the Poudrette quarry; and Mont Saint-Hilaire unknowns. MSH is certainly one of the world's great mineral specimen producing localities. MINDAT lists 440 valid species and an astounding 73 species as the Type Locality. Famed Tsumeb, another world-class mineral specimen producing locality lists 346 valid species and also 73 species as the Type Locality (MINDAT). As new, as the copy is still in its unopened plastic mailing sleeve. A fine, comprehensive issue on this great locale.
