Item Description

A truly fine quality specimen of Monazite (the exact species is not known) from the Vohambohitra pegmatite in Madagascar. This textbook crystal is very sharp, with well-formed faces, good luster and a rich reddish-brown color. No damage that I can see with the naked eye. A great piece for any fan of rarities, Madagascar minerals or thumbnails. This is without a doubt the best single crystal of Monazite that we've ever had to offer from this locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#CG-20). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
