Molybdenite on Quartz (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Platy, brilliant silvery colored hexagonal crystals of Molydenite sit aesthetically on massive Quartz matrix from an undisclosed locality in Yavapai County, Arizona (possibly from Cleator or Bagdad). The largest foliated group of Molybdenite measures up to 1.4 cm across. Fine quality, hard to find on the market these days, especially in aesthetic display pieces like this. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12278). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
