Item Description
By the early part of the 20th Century the mines at Kingsgate were nearly exhausted, so this is undoubtedly an old specimen.Packed around a round a quartz matrix core are several complex crystal clusters of moly exhibiting their unique powder-metallic luster, aesthetic radiating pattern, and a good 3-dimensionality. The piece is massive and heavy! The largest crystal measures nearly 7 cm across. Clearly, this is one of the largest and best molybdenite specimens around, at least from what I have seen on the market from this venerable old deposit. Valued $2500 or perhaps more. I have no comparable on this one, from what I have seen, and it is a VERY fine example by any standard. 665 grams
