Item Description
A cool micro specimen featuring a lovely, 3 mm metallic, silvery hexagonal crystal group of Molybdenite on matrix from Warren County, New Jersey. The piece comes from the personal collection of RIch Kosnar, who obtained the piece in 1965. Rich's hand-written label on the lid of the plastic micro mounting box states that it's from Oxford, but I had trouble finding a locality match online. I did find one listing that matches up, but nothing on the major database websites. (http://www.johnbetts-fineminerals.com/jhbnyc/mineralmuseum/gallery.php?init=Molybdenite). Nonetheless, Molybdenite is known from a few localities in New Jersey, aside from the obivous localities at Franklin and Sterling Hill.
