Item Description
Mohawkite is a rare local mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper and is only found only two places in the world - both on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Mohawk Mine is obviously the Type Locality. This is an excellent, sculptural, polished nugget. The polishing shows the pretty strong hints of coppery gold. This particular piece is richly embedded with green chlorite. A few years back we acquired the only available stash we know about of this material, which was mined in the 1950s. It had been sitting in a garage for a long, long time. Hefty at 80 grams mass.
