Item Description
Mohawkite, a rare compound of silver, copper, arsenic, cobalt, nickle and iron, is found only one place in the world - in the Mohawk-Ahmeek area of Keweenaw County in Michigan (making this obviously the Type Locality). This sculptural 3.2-ounce or 90 gram nugget has been polished and slabbed on one side to show its pretty silvery tone with a strong hint of gold. A few years back we acquired the only available stash we know about of this material, which was mined in the 1950s. It had been sitting in a garage for a long, long time. We just uncovered the remaining pieces from our recent move.
