Item Description

Polished mohawkite with matrix is RARE from the extinct Type Locality in Copper Country. Mohawkite is a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper (and possibly further species) (MINDAT). The rare layered rounded cobble has a rare polished silvery vein of mohawkite on top. Most polished mohawkite has a rich golden color. A variable thickness quartz-rich vein is in the middle and the rounded base is basalt. Massive specimens, such as this, are rare because the rich ore was generally smelted. A very RARE style layered matrix mohawkite from the Keweenaw Peninsula.
