Item Description
Mohawkite is a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper and is only found only two places in the world - both on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Mohawk Mine is obviously the Type Locality. This is an excellent, sculptural, polished upright nugget. The base has been sawed. The polishing shows the pretty strong hints of coppery gold. A few years back we acquired the only available stash we know about of this material, which was mined in the 1950s. It had been sitting in a garage for a long, long time. 42 grams mass.
