Item Description
Mohawkite is a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper and is only found only two places in the world - both on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Mohawk Mine is obviously the Type Locality. This is an excellent two-piece deal of polished sculptural nuggets. The smaller piece has a sawed face and a bit of character-adding quartz. The polishing shows the pretty strong hints of coppery gold. A few years back we acquired the only available stash we know about of this material, which was mined in the 1950s. It had been sitting in a garage for a long, long time. 119 grams mass, 64 and 55 grams.
