Item Description
Mohawkite, is a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper and is only found only two places in the world - both on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Mohawk Mine is obviously the Type Locality. This is an excellent two-piece deal of polished sculptural nuggets. The larger piece has two sawed faces and the other has a bit of character-adding quartz. The polishing shows the pretty strong hints of coppery gold. A few years back we acquired the only available stash we know about of this material, which was mined in the 1950s. It had been sitting in a garage for a long, long time. 167 grams mass, 86 and 81 grams.
