Item Description

An impressive and hefty (796 grams or 1.8 pounds mass) large solid mohawkite specimen from the extinct Type Locality in Copper Country. Mohawkite is a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper (and possibly further species) (MINDAT). The rare piece has a polished bright silvery face. Most polished mohawkite has a rich golden color and you can see hints of gold color on this impressive piece, adding pizzazz. Massive specimens, such as this, are rare because the rich ore was generally smelted. A RARE large solid mohawkite from the Keweenaw Peninsula.
