Mn-Calcite with Pyrite

This locality in northern Romania actually dates back to the time of the Romans, and is one of the most significant European localities hands down. This piece is a very showy classic Romanian Mangano-Calcite specimen featuring a beautiful light pink somewhat narrow scalenohedral crystal groups which are sprinkled with small, metallic, golden cuboctahedral Pyrite on matrix. While a few of the Calcite crystals are broken, many of them are fully terminated, which is more than can be said of many of the Calcite specimens from this locality. A nice small cabinet size matrix display specimen of this prized material.
