Item Description

A cute specimen from the well-known Broken Hill, Australia locality. The beautiful calcite balls have a fabulous pearly luster. The largest is about .7 cm in length, with most about .5 cm in size. They are highly fluorescent, and rest on a black matrix ( Psilomelane) that provieds a sharp, attractive contrast. Really, an excellent specimen. Not too busy, it very aesthetic! Interestingly this was labelled as a smithsonite but, as the manganese red fluorescence attests, is a calcite with manganese inclusions mimicking a smithsonite from here, in form!
