Item Description

A very three-dimensional, elegant and showy small cabinet display specimen featuring baby pink colored Mn-bearing Calcite from the famous Wessels Mine. The crystals have formed in "wheat sheaf"-esque groups (similar to the famous Rhodochrosites from the N'Chwaning Mines) with multiple tighly intergrown scalenohedra forming individual clusters up to about 5-6 mm. VERY little damage, and it's nearly crystallized all the way around (no matrix), so it's almost a complete "floater". From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
