Item Description
Pretty purple, glassy, lustrous, gemmy to translucent manganoan vesuvianite prisms, to 8 mm, richly and attractively line a sculptural 5.5 cm vug on the mounded matrix. This impressive specimen is solid vesuvianite, composed of both granular purple and green vesuvianite. See the two Jeffrey Mine articles in the 2013 Mineralogical Record, Vol. 44, No. 4. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces. Classic, rich and showy purple vesuvianite from the famed locale.
