Miserite, Straczekite (RARE - Type Loc. for both) & Wollastinite (Owens Coll.)

Item Description

This obscure Arkansas pit is the Type Locality for two rare species: miserite, a K-Ca silicate; and straczekite, a very rare hydrated complex vanadate. This impresssive large two-sided combination specimen features pretty pastel-pink, glassy, translucent lamellar masses of miserite (mostly on the front) and richly peppered on both sides with clusters of tiny platy black straczekite crystals. The matrix consists mostly of sprays of elongated lustrous and translucent whitish-gray wollastonite lathes. Specimens of this size, richness and combination quality are RARE from here. The wollastonite fluoresces yellow-green. Ex Don Owens Collection. Don was the Chief Geologist at the old Union Carbide vanadium mine and we recently obtained his collection. Specimens like this are hard to value, hard to find, and incredibly rare on the market. This one obviously can be trimmed into many specimens for resale/trade stock
