Item Description

Minium is a rare secondary alteration product of lead. Vivid, bright orange minium microcrystals richly cover the matrix on this showy thumbnail from an old Arizona locale. The Silver Reef Mine was discovered in 1885 and produced intermittently from 1905-1955. Minium specimens from this mine are VERY RARE. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
