Item Description

This is a very hard to find specimen from this classic locality featuring a pair of secondary lead minerals in the form of rich red-orange colored Minium (a lead oxide) forming pseudomorphs after Cerussite (a lead carbonate). I've only seen a few of these over the years, and they are quite remarkable as Minium is a notably soft species, and Cerussite is brittle, so you have to be careful handling a piece like this. There are very few places on earth where these specific pseudomorphs can be found, and Broken Hill is the premier locality for them. A very cool specimen from one of the greatest mining districts in history. Ex Colin Manlove collection.
