Item Description
Here we have an impressive, good sized, and frankly hard to find specimen from this classic locality featuring a full coverage of rich red-orange colored Minium (a lead oxide) on matrix. I've only seen a few of these over the years, and this one is certainly one of the richest examples we've had to offer. Minium is not typically a species that you can find in good sized display specimens, and it's usually an accessory mineral or an associated species, so when you have a piece of this size and quality, it's significant, not just for Broken Hill, but for Minium in general. A very cool specimen from one of the greatest mining districts in history.
