Mimetite with Wulfenite

The historic and bountiful Ojuela Mine is one of the most iconic mineral producing localities in Mexico. This important mine has produced some of the most iconic mineral specimens in the history of mining, not only in Mexico, but worldwide. Here we have a beautiful specimen featuring dozens of excellent resinous orange-yellow to brownish-yellow color Mimetite aggregates in semi-spherical form measuring which are associated with a lovely yellow, sharp, lustrous, gemmy tabular crystal of Wulfenite measuring 1.4 cm on edge sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The Mimetites are not quite prisms or balls, but somewhere in between. I've described them before as "elongated globular" groups. Overall, the Mimetites are in great condition, but the Wulfenite is contacted on one side. This particular combination of yellow Mimetite and yellow Wulfenite and is not terribly common from this locality. We've seen plenty of green Mimetites from the Ojuela Mine often associated with Wulfenite, but the yellow material is older, and to my mind, less common than the green.
