Mimetite with Wulfenite

When it comes to minerals of Mexico, the world-renowned Ojuela Mine is one of the most iconic mineral producing localities in history. It's not just a premier Mexican locality, it's literally one of the great mineral localities in the world, producing a wide variety and healthy number of world-class specimens. This small cabinet specimen is a beautiful display piece featuring dozens of excellent orange-yellow color Mimetite aggregates in semi-spherical form measuring up to 8 mm long which are associated with a group lovely yellow, sharp, lustrous, tabular crystals of Wulfenite measuring up to 2.2 cm on edge sitting on matrix. Minor roughness can be seen in a few spots, but it really doesn't take away from the overall eye-catching quality of the piece. The Wulfenites are particularly large for this material! This particular combination of yellow Mimetite and yellow Wulfenite is not terribly common from this locality. We've seen plenty of green Mimetites from the Ojuela Mine often associated with Wulfenite, but the yellow material is older, and to my mind, less common than the green.
