Mimetite with pink Smithsonite (beautiful association) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Tsumeb has produced a large number of "best in the world" specimens fro various species and associations, including the finest Mimetite crystals known. This piece is a beautiful combination specimen featuring gorgeous, translucent, sharp, lustrous, thin, prismatic hexagonal soft yellow crystals of Mimetite measuring up to 6 mm long which are associated with gorgeous, vitreous, compressed pink rhombs of Smithsonite measuring up to 4 mm on contrasting black matrix. The combination of Mimetite and pink Smithsonite is rarely seen from Tsumeb, or anywhere for that matter, and although this piece is not 100% pristine, is a very attractive and classic association piece from what is the most prolific mineral locality in history.
