Item Description
Mimetite is considered one of the the great Tsumeb Mine's 'Holy Grail' mineral species. Found in different habits at the mine, this noteworthy and attractive small-cabinet specimen has two variations on the tapered habit. The larger crystals, up to 9 mm, are thick, lustrous, translucent, and have a pleasant yellow color tinged with a hint of red and green. The smaller Mimetites are acicular, highly lustrous, and GEMMY. Both are found in expansive clusters, and together they richly cover a hefty percentage of the presentation side. The Mimetites have a rich, soft-orange fluorescence, and associated Calcite in the matrix has a bright, vivid, pinkish-red fluorescence. This is an aesthetic Mimetite specimen.
