Mimetite (Whitmore Coll.)

Item Description

Gemmy and lustrous, honey-yellow, hexagonal, mimetite barrels the onetime find of the mid-1990s. These are spectacular mimetites by any standard and were generally unappreciated at the time. The large crystal is 9 mm. Some crystal bruising is noted, but this remains a very highly representative example of the species and locale and the crystals are nicely discrete. Scarce now, they were never common to begin with and no more have come out since. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
