Item Description

An old-time, outstanding, sculptural, rich and RARE mimetite variety campylite combination from the historic Dry Gill Mine. Campylite (rounded) mimetites are a highly desirable English classic. Dense clusters of typically rounded, lustrous, rich burnt-orange crystals are aesthetically set atop the mounded matrix and have a dramatic "nest-like " cavity on top! Some of the campylites have a light dusting of yellow-green pyromorphite, as do other areas of piece adding color and contrast. A 2.4 cm barite blade and RARE for the locale, a rich field of gray goethite botryoids are super accents. The hefty mounded ore matrix is mostly galena with some quartz. 353 grams mass. Periphery wear is mostly out-of-sight in the many fine display views on this exceptional and rare old-time combination. Specimens of this quality date to the 1800s. Valued at $1500.
