An impressive large old-time combination classic from this famous Cumbria mine. Classic rounded barrel-shaped, lustrous, orange campylite crystals are richly scattered on the sugary quartz matrix covered with two generations of starkly contrasting gray to black psilomelane botyroids. Psilomelane is an obsolete group name for hard black manganese oxides (MINDAT). The bit of noted crystal bruising is certainly only a modest detraction to this fine, very showy and highly desirable old-timer from an East Coast collection. The piece displays well without aid.
