Item Description
Lustrous, translucent, yellow-green, intergrown spherical clusters of distinctive barrel-shaped crystals of mimetite variety campylite are richly and attractively scattered on the vuggy, starkly contrasting black gossan and quartz matrix on this classic, very rich, old-time specimen from the famous Dry Gill Mine of Cumbria. The famous lead mines at Caldbeck Fells were worked out by 1876, so this fine piece is easily over 130 years old! Primary production was from the 1840s-60s. Most excellent large material in this richness and displays well without aid. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $800, more than five years ago. It is worth more today.
