Item Description

Campylite, the barrel-shaped mimetite varietal, is one of the most recognizable and desirable English species. This classic and very aesthetic combination is from the famous Dry Gill Mine at Caldbeck Fells, source of the finest examples. Distinctive, sharp, lustrous, rusty-orange striated barrels, to 9 mm, are dramatically clustered atop the wedge of quartz matrix. This very fine old-timer has an excellent provenance, having been in the British Museum Collection. From an East Coast collection.
