Item Description

A wonderful thumbnail specimen from the Mount Bonnie Mine featuring a few sharp, well-formed, fairly thick, tabular, hexagonal crystals measuring up to 5 mm across sitting on gossan matrix. The Mimetites show a wonderful habit with pronounced basal faces and modifying pyramidal faces on every side. The color is a soft yellow tone. Very attractive up close, with only one broken edge to one of the Mimetite crystals. A great specimen of this now very hard to find material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7448) mounted in an old Willard "Perky" Perkin box. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
