Item Description

The Sammy Dog Mine (also called the Ironwood Mine, or my personal favorite "God's Claim") in the Silver Bell Mountains of Arizona is best known for its beautiful Mimetite specimens. This piece features many thin prismatic crystals of strong yellow colored Mimetite, sitting on oxidized matrix. Upon close inspection, you can see there are beautiful accenting growths on the crystals, giving them an almost organic appearance. The crystals look best under magnification, and we've photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. if you're a collector of secondary ore minerals, don't pass up the chance to get your hands on this beautiful and obscure specimen, as we rarely have them available to offer.
From the collection of Colin Manlove, originally from Dave Shannon in June of 2003.
