Item Description

A superb, colorful and dramatically sculptural mimetite on cuprite and copper from famed Tsumeb. Spherical nubby clusters of sparkly, translucent straw-yellow mimetite crystals are artistically clustered along the top of the fantastic boxwork of sharp wine-red cuprite crystals on copper. The isolated stalk/stalactite of cuprite on copper with mimetite on it and above adds a surreal aspect to this exceptional two-sided small cabinet. And the sprinkling of etched white calcite rhombs add contrast and character. The sharp cuprite crystals glow with cherry-red color, when brightly lit. This exceptional and aesthetic specimen is a RARE combination in this quality and is possibly from the 1970s finds in the Lower Oxidation Zone. Ex Marshall Sussman Collection, well-known Tsumeb specialist and dealer and comes with a label in German. Valued by Marshall at $6000. A possibly unique style mimetite, cuprite and copper specimen.
