Mimetite is a RARE accessory from the renowned Red Cloud Mine, source of the world's finest wulfenite specimens. Juicy, translucent tiny classic red to orange-red mimetite botryoids are dramatically festooned on the front and back of the very sculptural, 3-dimensional small cabinet matrix of gray calcite and gossan. See the 1980 Mineralogical Record article in Arizona-I Special Issue, Vol. 11, No. 3. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974. Al acquired the piece in 1987 at the New Mexico Symposium from the David Riley Collection. An exceptional, very rich and rare older mimetite combination from the famed locale.
