Mimetite (old classic)

Item Description

An old-time and showy specimen of gemmy, straw-yellow, mimetite blades to 5 mm nicely scattered on the quartz-rich matrix from the historic mines of Cornwall. This style of mimetite is not that common from Cornwall. The piece is possibly from the Penberthy Croft Mine, which closed around 1840! Comes with an expertly handwritten, faded label from an older collection. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.
