Mimetite (large plate circa 2000!)

From remarkable and never-repeated finds of the early 2000's, this is a LARGE plate! Beautiful, discrete crystals and clusters of glassy and translucent, barrel shaped, orange colored crystals of mimetite, to 1 cm in length, are scattered about the starkly contrasting matrix. Many of the crystals are doubly terminated and exhibit a yellowish band at their terminations. Pieces like this have not been seen in years anyhow, and I cannot even recall such a good cabinet piece on the market. Value is difficult to say - it might be worth even more in China as they seek to buy bck what was once exported. Perhaps $2500, is fair. 3.1 pounds weight.
