Item Description
A lovely specimen from the San Antonio Mine in Santa Eulalia, Mexico featuring attractive, rather lustrous, spherical groups of dark orange-brown Mimetite on gossan matrix. If you look at the back of the piece, it almost appears that it has formed a "cast" after a preexisting mineral, or possible the Mimetites formed on a hollow stalactite, which was cracked open when the piece was removed from the pocket. The Mimetites look beautiful up close, and the piece displays beautifully thanks to a small base that was glued to the specimen. Priced at $950 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
