Item Description

When the Chinese mimetites from Pingtouling first appeared in early 2003, they arguably became the some of the best ever found from anywhere, with the exception of the finest Tsumeb pieces of different style from one pocket in the 1970s. Certainly nothing like this has been seen for Mimetite in many years. This is a good large miniature / small cabinet display specimen from this famous mine. Dozens of sharp, lustrous, orange-yellow color prismatic crystals with somewhat of a "silky" "cat's eye" effect seen when rotated in the light are sitting on gossan matrix. The largest crystal measures 4 mm long. Good quality, despite the smaller size, and certainly rare now on the market. The piece is from the collection of John Arnaud of Colorado.
