A showy and fine quality display specimen of this classic material. The display side of this attractive cabinet sized specimen features gorgeous botryoidal aggregates of eye-catching yellow-green color Mimetite measuring up to 3 mm, which partially spill over to the back of the piece. The color along with the fantastic crystallization is really gorgeous. This piece was mined in the 1980s, and very little of it was found with this particular color. There are a few contacts, but the piece is still very showy and eye-catching. For those of you who remember the abundance of yellow Adamites from Mapimi on the market in the 1970s, look at how they have appreciated in value over the years, and the Mimetites are much less common on the market. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
