Mimetite (classic material)

Mimetite is a well-known secondary lead arsenate mineral, and there are several localities which are known to produce excellent specimens. Here we have a classic piece of the well-known Mimetites from the Ojuela Mine featuring attractive rich yellow colored groups of which are covering the underlying oxidized matrix. The Mimetites are a bit elongated in habit, but not truly narrow prisms, nor are they complete "spheres", rather somewhere in between. The largest individual Mimetite measures about 7 mm. They have a distinct resinous yet somewhat "sparkly" luster and the fact that they are fairly well-separated and defined makes them all the more enticing. A tiny amount of bladed orange-yellow Wulfenite can be seen on the piece as well. A showy and three-dimensional display specimen of this classic material from Ojuela. The periphery has a bit of roughness, but the majority of the Mimetites are in fine shape.
