Mimetite

The great mine of Tsumeb has produced many outstanding species, Mimetite among them. This is a classic style, although Mimetites from there have ranged in shape and size from gemmy, hexagonal barrels to large and lustrous 'rice grains'. This small cabinet specimen hosts hundreds of attractive, flowery clusters of the rice grain Mimetites, many of which range up to 9 mm. The luster is excellent and the yellow color quite appealing. Many of these Mimetites have their terminations grow into these gorgeous, cauliflower blossoms, which adds even more to the aesthetics. The piece is 3-dimensional, with crystals abundant on both sides. It is a choice specimen, and from Tsumeb! From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
