This item is part of a special benefit auction for the Rice Museum of Rocks & Minerals (ricenorthwestmuseum.org). Items are either deaccessions from the museum's collection or were donated by generous supporters listed below.

Nestled in a relatively large protected pocket in a dark Goethite matrix are numerous spheres of beautiful, rich yellow-green Mimetite, to 3 mm across. There is a nice variation between are that have rich, mounded areas of Mimetite and portions that have more space between the Mimetite balls revealing the brown Goethite in between. The Mimetite balls vary in size between 2 and 4 mm across and exhibit a satin luster. The piece has very three-dimensional topography and good size making this a nice specimen for the Mimetite and its accented in places by a scattering of some sparkly, orange Wulfenite plates.
