Mimetite

No, this Mimetite is not from San Pedro Corralitos. Those are hard to get now, but this is an even more rare, small cabinet specimen of similar color from a completely different locality in Zacatecas - the Bilbao Mine. The form is also similar, but the Bilbao Mimetites take the basic botryoidal growth one step further. These develop a more stalk-like structure as they grow, with some of the individual Mimetites reach over 1 cm in size. The color is an attractive orange, and they are transulcent. From a one-time find in the 1950s, this was #3240 in Kay's collection.
