Item Description
Mimetite is probably found in more colors and habits from Tsumeb than just about any other major world locality. I've seen single water clear yellow prisms to cluster to pearly groups and even botryoidal habits, all in fine quality specimens from this amazing mine. I would say the most desirable form is any piece that shows robust textbook hexagonal crystals like this specimen. This particular piece features a group of very well-formed and eye-catching, sharp, prismatic, hexagonal crystals with a light silvery-yellow hue and reddish overtone presumably caused by some kind of iron oxide(?). The piece fairly three-dimensional and was a bit difficult to photograph, but truly looks better in person. A good quality and showy thumbnail of classic Tsumeb Mimetite.
