Mimetite

Berg Aukus is one of the most famous localities in the world for species like Smithsonite and Descloizite, but there are also some interesting Mimetites from this desposit as well. I have seen only a couple specimens of Mimetite from this great locality, and this piece is certainly interesting. It features a pair of fairly stout and well-formed, sharp prismatic hexagonal crystals with a rich caramel orange color when backlit. Very little damage to speak of, but it's a cool thumbnail from a well known locality, and certainly unusual. The old dealer tag valued it at $395.
