Fine classic material from this now famous discovery in China, which has been completely mined out and will never produce these specimens again. These beautiful Mimetites shook things up when they hit the market, as they were some of the best quality crystals of Mimetite seen in some time. This lovely small cabinet features very sharp, highly lustrous, prismatic hexagonal crystals of these superb Mimetites sitting on oxidized matrix. The crystals have an incredibly lively yellow-orange hue with highly lustrous faces and textbook prismatic hexagonal form. The largest Mimetite measures 6 mm. If you look closely, some of the crystals have a slight "cat's eye" effect near the terminations. Very attractive in person, and good crystallized examples of Mimetite are very hard to find from any contemporary locality, one typically must search for them in old collections. Valued $1,500.
