Item Description

This is an attractive display specimen from one of the most prestigious mines in all of Mexico. The prolific Ojuela Mine is one of the most iconic mineral producing localities in the entire country, and for many decades has been the source of some of the most beloved mineral specimens in the history of mineral collecting. This display quality specimen features beautiful orange-yellow colored semi-radial groups of Mimetite, free of matrix. Each Mimetite group is somewhat elongated, and while they are not narrow prisms, they aren't complete "spheres" either, rather somewhere in between. I love the eye-catching distinct resinous luster on the Mimetites and the fact that the groups are fairly well-separated and defined makes them all the more enticing. There is a slight hollow opening on the piece, that doesn't appear to be damage, but maybe accelerated growth, creating a slightly skeletal or "hoppered" form. A showy and three-dimensional display specimen of these well-known and fine quality Mimetites. No major damage that I can see. The piece comes with a FREE custom acrylic base for easy display! Valued at $2,000.
