Item Description

This is an excellent specimen of the hard to find Quartz crystals from the Cliffhanger Pocket near Ouray, Colorado featuring a predominant, sharp, doubly-terminated (it's actually multi-terminated on one end), hexagonal Milky Quartz crystal which hosts a handful of attractive "casts" of sugary Quartz after Calcite free of matrix. No real damage that I can see, although there is a bit of superficial roughness on a few small areas of the "casts". It's wonderful to see such sharp, distinct and attractive "casts" like this. It should be noted that some people refer to these "casts" as epimorphs, while others use the term perimorphs. If you're a Colorado collector, or a Quartz collector, this is a great opportunity to add an aesthetic and fine quality .display piece from an uncommon locality in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado to your collection. Collected by Mark Mahlum in 2009. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
