Item Description
A selected handful of notably sharp, lustrous and gemmy bright yellow-green hexagonal prismatic crystals of Milarite measuring up to 6 mm sit on the underlying matrix. Not all of the crystals are pristine, but they certainly are attractive in terms of color and gemminess. Most of the specimens I've seen from this discovery (from the early 1970s) are loose singles, and the majority of the matrix pieces only host a solitary crystal, so this piece is significant as there are many crystals on matrix. These crystals have a more intense color with better luster and gemminess than the other (perhaps more famous) yellow-green crystals from Jaguaracu, Brazil. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7050). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
